2019 American Residential Design Award (ARDA) in Custom Home Category
This 2019 ARDA Award–Winning custom home spans nearly 6,000 square feet across two primary levels and is carefully set among the pines on a steep Pikes Peak hillside overlooking Colorado Springs. Designed to feel like a treehouse at scale, the eight-bedroom home balances expansive family gatherings with intimacy, maximizing city views while preserving the privacy of the site.
The design embraces the natural slope and existing trees to create layered living spaces and built-in privacy. Below the main living level, five private walk-out decks provide individual space for extended family members. The main level features double-height ceilings, abundant natural light, a custom kitchen, and an open floor plan ideal for gathering.
Warm wood detailing, granite countertops, and framed views of downtown define the shared spaces. The primary suite, connected to the living area, offers separation from family zones and includes mountain views, a spa-like bath, and a generous walk-in closet. An upper-level office and studio overlook the great room, offering true “top-of-the-trees” views. A crafted steel and wood stairway and elevator connect all three levels, completing a thoughtfully detailed Mountain Craftsman home.
