Food to Power

Commercial

Colorado Springs, CO

Food to Power is a community-driven neighborhood food facility developed to address food insecurity and support equitable access to fresh, healthy food in the Hillside neighborhood of Colorado Springs. Designed by Compass Architecture and completed in 2022, the project utilizes a pre-manufactured metal building system to provide a cost-effective, durable, and flexible structure that supports a wide range of community-oriented programs.

The building serves as the operational heart of a larger food systems campus, housing a community gathering space, low- and no-cost food distribution programs, educational workshops, and administrative offices for Colorado Springs Food Rescue. The project is intentionally designed to support year-round food access and learning, complementing adjacent urban agriculture and community farming initiatives. Through its efficient construction, adaptable interior spaces, and mission-driven design, the Hillside Hub Food Center functions as both critical neighborhood infrastructure and a replicable model for community-based food systems development.
